For any groups wishing to study the geography, geology, ecology of Anglesey we are in a fantastic location with a wealth of reknown sites nearby.
For geologists Anglesey has arguably the greatest geodiversity for its size of anywhere in Europe, possessing rock formations from most of the major geological era. Now recognized as one of Europe’s Geoparks it is a great location for structural mapping field trips with quick access to many of Anglesey’s historic sites including, South Stack, Rhoscolyn Anticline, Parys Copper Mountain, Newborough Pillow Lavas ...
For geographers there are many sites to offer for coastal erosion, sand dunes, soil science, tourism all within a short distance from Anglesey Outdoors. The study of the sand dunes at Aberffraw, coastal erosion along the cliffs towards South Stack with excellent examples of stacks, arches plus the natural lagoon at Cemlyn make Anglesey a perfect field trip location.
Other field trips based from the Centre have included ecologists, photography and landscape art courses, sports science, adventure tourism and surveying.
All colleges, schools and universites who base themselves from Anglesey Outdoors have exclusive use of the Centre, or their part of it where numbers are low, and use of the large lounge and dining area as a classroom. We aim to offer a friendly, warm and comfortable base to ensure that the most can be obtain from the field trip.
