KAYAKING
“There is nothing–absolutely nothing–half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats” – Kenneth Grahame, Wind in the Willows.
Our fun kayaking sessions range from learning new skills, journeying along the spectacular Anglesey coastline, splashing in waves and playing games to gain skills and confidence. You will be in a sit on top kayak, which are super safe, easily manoeuvrable and stable, or there are tandem sit on tops if you would prefer.
WHAT MAKES IT SO GOOD?
We are fortunate to be in a great location with several beautiful safe beaches a short distance from Anglesey Outdoors. This is a fun activity for families, friends, groups or team building and also offers a great opportunity to explore the coast of Anglesey from a different perspective.
surrounded by spectacular coastlines and breath-taking scenery

What will I be doing?
Sessions are generally 3 hours long, which includes traveling to the beach, changing into wet gear/safety briefing. You will meet the instructor at Anglesey Outdoors, where there are changing rooms for you to get into a wetsuit, plus buoyancy aid and helmet.
Then it’s just a short drive or walk to the beach – the venue changes depending on wind strength and sea state. You will be required to drive a short distance (less than 10mins) and provide your own transport for this. At the beach, there is a short safety briefing then depending on the tide, you may also be asked to get involved with moving the kayaks a short distance down the beach, (less than 100m), this is part of the activity and you’ll be helped by the other participants in the session.
Then it’s out on the water getting the hang of how the kayak moves and learning a few strokes if you are a novice. Once you are familiar with your kayak there is the opportunity for a journey along the Anglesey coast to discover remote sandy coves, sea caves and some amazing geology on the sea cliffs. At the end of the session, you can return to Anglesey Outdoors for a hot shower or if you prefer, you can change by your vehicle, leave your kit with your instructor and head off.
*Please Note: The minimum number of participants for a session to run is 3 people.

Frequently Asked Questions the Wild Swimming
Who and how many can do the go wild swimming?
We offer outdoor swimming to all ages and abilities.
We take a maximum of 5 people for a mixed session.
What do I need to bring?
We’ll provide you with the most important things: Winter weight wetsuit and swimming cap.
You would need to bring:
- Swimming costume, to wear under the wetsuit. Gents, baggy shorts are not good under a suit, but trunks or even underwear are fine for this.
- Thin shoes, the emphasis here is on thin. We need shoes to protect our feet on the beach and any walking we do – skinny shoes like school pumps are ideal, or a wetsuit boot. It’s optional to wear socks.
- Towel, to get changed at the end. Depending on where we go this might be open air changing so a big towel is best.
- Some spare clothes to change into at the end of the day (underwear, socks etc.)
- That’s it! You need minimal stuff. If you do have any medication that you usually carry, make sure you bring that too, we can look after it for you at the beach.
What is the duration of the activity?
Our introduction to open water swimming are 2 hour sessions which are a great gateway into outdoor swimming. Our instructors will give you the knowledge and skills to explore and swim safely.
Our half days run from 10.00 to 12.00 for morning sessions, or from 14.00 to 16:00 for an afternoon.
Swimming sessions are also available as private bookings which allow you or your group to enjoy your own, unique and unforgettable day. You are welcome to provide as much or as little input into the itinerary as you wish, whether you have a specific adventure in mind, or would prefer us to take care of the planning. HOW MANY CAN PARTICIPATE?
Where do you go wild swimming?
We have so many coves and stunning beaches in Anglesey that are perfect for wild swimming. The location on the day will depend on the length of the session, the tides, weather and abilities of the group. We can go as far as Llandwyn Island or Bull Bay but often you can’t beat our local beach at Porth Dafarch or Trearddur Bay for a great session.
When do you go wild swimming?
We can do it all year round, but May through to September tend to have warmer air temperatures and better weather so that’s the prime time. We are lucky to be in a mild climate so in October the sea is at its warmest, and we can experience some great conditions.
Is it safe?
Safety is paramount importance – we value and maintain highest professional standards. Outdoor swimming is all about having fun, swimming safely, with great company, in amazing locations all year round.
Our philosophy is enjoy the trip don’t endure it – we like to make outdoor swimming comfortable and accessible.
